British Cartoon Network Mistakenly Airs Bookmaker Ad
The Cartoon Network made a huge faux pas recently when it mistakenly aired an ad for UK bookmaker Coral during a broadcast on the children’s television channel despite strict rules that govern the airing of gambling ads on television.
The ad that is controversial aired on Turner Broadcasting’s Boomerang channel plus the Cartoon Network, sparking outrage as the broadcast code strictly forbids the marketing of gambling ‘in or next to programs commissioned for, principally fond of, or more likely to appeal particularly to audiences below the age of 18 years,’ so minds were positively tumbling when the broadcast clearly broke these rules.
Numerous Airings
The station may have maybe been forgiven for their ‘serious breach’ associated with rules had the ad aired just once, but the advertising was broadcast nine times on a Saturday morning back in May with this year, which can be primetime viewing for young ones kick-starting their week-end with some cartoon antics.
The Advertising guidelines Agency says that Turner Broadcasting has ‘apologized unreservedly’ for the hiccup, and has now explained that the ad was broadcast, repeatedly, in error.

But exactly what’s worse is the fact that ad that is coral involved one of kid’s most beloved all-time favorite figures and Marvel Comics hero, the Incredible Hulk. This merely supplied more ammunition to those whom declare that gambling promotion objectives young ones.
